Staff Spotlight – Jamye O’Neal

amye O’Neal is the Lab Manager of Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center’s Innovative Translational Research Shared Resource (ITR) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in Nashville, TN.  Prior to joining the ITR in 2011, she managed the TherapeUTex preclinical core in the Drug Dynamics Institute at the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Pharmacy from 2009-2011.  She started working at the bench and managing animal colonies as a research assistant in the Allergy, Pulmonary, Critical Care Medicine division at VUMC in 2000, before moving to the University of Texas at Austin to work as a research scientist in the breast cancer field in 2006.  Jamye received her B.S. Biology degree from Lipscomb University and will graduate from the Vanderbilt School of Medicine this May with a Masters of Laboratory Investigation degree.  She received a VUMC Credo Award in February 2017.

Jamye has attended past SEASR meetings in Nashville, Atlanta, and Tampa.  At the 2016 SEASR meeting in Atlanta, she won first place in the poster competition.  She enjoys participating in SEASR because of the educational and career development opportunities, as well as being able to network with other scientists from core facilities in the region.
